Macho Camacho Shot

Hector "Macho" Camacho, the ornamented boxer who
awed fans with his quick hands and ring antics,
was shot and critically wounded in Puerto Rico Tuesday
authorities said. Camacho was shot Tuesday in front of
a bar in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, police said. Camacho, 50,
was in the passenger seat of a car and next to him was a
man who was shot twice and killed, police said.
Camacho was rushed to a nearby hospital, said Dr. Ernesto Torres,
of the Centro Medico of Rio Piedras.
Torres said the bullet appeared to have entered the
left side of the boxer's face and is now lodged in his right shoulder.
If Camacho survives his injuries he may have trouble walking
in future, Torres said, because the bullet fractured two
vertebrae in his neck.
Camacho was born in Bayamon and raised in New York. He fought
professionally for more than 25 years and last fought in 2010.
During his career he beat such legendary boxers as Roberto Duran
and Sugar Ray Leonard and he held several championships.
No one has yet been arrested over the shooting.
The previous star of the ring was sitting in the passenger
seat of a black Ford Mustang outside the "Azuquita" bar
when the shots were fired, WAPA TV reported. Capt. Rafael Rosa,

Adrian Mojica. He received one shot to the neck and another to the
lower back. The suspects are two men who are believed to have
been traveling in a gray vehicle, said Lt. Wilfredo Rivera,

Adrien Broner Defeats Antonio Demarco with TKO

Adrien Broner stopped Antonio DeMarco in the eighth round to take the WBC lightweight championship Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall. Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) dominated from the outset, punishing DeMarco (28-3-1, 21 KOs) until DeMarco's corner mercifully threw in the towel. Referee Benji Esteves stopped the fight at 1:49 of the round. Broner took control in the fifth, punishing DeMarco with uppercuts and straight rights that thudded against DeMarco's face and produced a bruise under his left eye to match the one under his right. Some fans cheered while others cringed at the onslaught. When the bell sounded, DeMarco walked wearily back to his corner. "I was shaking and baking him until I flipped him up," Broner said. "I knew coming into this fight it was going to be a world-class fight. But I knew he didn't have the skills to beat me. "I wanted to make a statement tonight and I did. He was definitely the toughest opponent I've faced. He was strong and could take a punch." There was a minor controversy before the main event when DeMarco's camp complained that Broner's gloves were smaller. There was no scale to weigh the gloves in the dressing rooms -- they are supposed to weigh eight ounces -- so DeMarco was offered the opportunity to wear the same gloves as Broner and he agreed.
Broner TKO Demarco

In the co-feature Detroit heavyweight Johanthon Banks (29-1-1, 19 KOs) stopped Seth Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KOs) in the second round. Banks dropped the former Michigan State linebacker three times in the second, prompting referee Eddie Cotton to stop the fight at 2:38.

AGAIN CHAVEZ??

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. tested positive for marijuana in his post fight drug test. This is bad news for Chavez, especially considering the fact he was just arrested on DUI charges just two weeks before his fight against Marco Antonio Rubio in January.Previously, in 2009 Chavez also tested positive for a banned diuretic which can be used to mask steroids. This could cause his boxing license suspension in Nevada to not allow him the rematch against Sergio Martinez. He also could be fined more than %10 of his purse..Damn Julio, at least party when your'e not in training camp. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8400493/bob-arum-julio-cesar-chavez-jr-tested-positive-marijuana
